Trent Athletics Announces 2026 Women's Rugby Schedule

New head coach Luke Bentvelzen leads the Excalibur into the 2026-27 OUA season

Trent University Excalibur Women's Rugby is set to return to the pitch this fall, opening the 2026-27 season at home while ushering in a new era under head coach Luke Bentvelzen.

The Excalibur begin their campaign on Saturday, September 5, welcoming the McMaster Marauders to Justin Chiu Stadium for a 2 p.m. kickoff. Trent enters the season with momentum after closing out the 2025 campaign with a 32-10 home victory over Waterloo.

Bentvelzen takes the reins of the program ahead of the 2026 season and is eager to build on the team's strong foundation.

"I'm grateful to be given the opportunity to work with a fantastic staff at an institution with a great academic reputation," said Bentvelzen. "There is a great group of coaches and returning players that I think can lay a foundation of continued excellence.

Fans can also catch the Excalibur under the lights as they kick off Head of the Trent Weekend on Friday, October 2, hosting the University of Toronto Varsity Blues at 7 p.m. at Justin Chiu Stadium. The matchup also serves as the team's final home game of the regular season and annual Senior Day celebration, recognizing the graduating student-athletes for their contributions to the program.

The Excalibur will wrap up the regular season on the road on Saturday, October 10 at 12 p.m. against the Laurier Golden Hawks.

Ticket information:

Game Day Tickets: $10 per game, available at the gate.

Trent Students: Free admission to all regular season games with a valid TrentU student card.

Children 12 and Under: Free admission when accompanied by an adult or guardian.

All spectators aged 13 and older must have a valid ticket for any regular or postseason varsity event.
