2018 Women's Lacrosse Season Starts in Kingston

Excalibur Women's Lacrosse got the ball rolling on their 2018 season as they played defending champion Western Mustangs and 2017 3rd place finishers Laurier Golden Hawks. A tough draw, but the Excalibur were excited to see how they matched up against some of the top teams. The Excalibur will be hosting the 2018 OUA Championships this Fall the weekend of October 19-21.

 

Game 1- Final Score Trent-9, Western-8

Trent defeats Defending Champions Western University 

Trent trailed the entire game with a score of 4-3 at the half. In the last five minute of the game Trent scores three unanswered goals. The game winner was scored on a crease roll by senior attacker Donna Ward. Kristin Fernandes was great in the net, along with our veteran defensive unit.

Game 2- Final Score Laurier-10, Trent- 9

Trent again trailed this game with a score of 6-2 at the half. Trent dug deep in the second half, and scored 7 goals to tie up the game with 1 minute left. Laurier was able to score with 52 seconds left, and Trent played all the way to the buzzer to try and tie up the game. The team showed a lot of heart and never gave up the entire game. Both goalies Kristin Fernandes, and Emily Vandamme played a solid game.
