Jones Places 2nd in C Final with Senior National Team at World Rowing Cup III
Trevor Jones, as has been the case for a few summers now, swapped Green and White for Red and White as he competed wearing the Canadian flag this past weekend in Lucerne, Switzerland. Jones, who will suit up as part of Team Canada's U23 team at the U23 World Championships next week, was up against the best in the world.
Peterborough Rowing Club rower Trevor Jones, of Burleigh Falls, finished 14th overall in a 32-man field in the men's single sculls in his World Rowing Cup debut with Team Canada.
Jones, 19, a student at Trent University where he is coached by Carol Love, moved up from fourth at the half to finish second in the C Final on Saturday in a time of 07:03:87 in the 2000 m event in a field of veterans.
Jones will compete with Rowing Canada's under-23 team for the World U23 Rowing Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria from July 19 to 23.
He has also been named to Team Ontario for the Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg from July 31 to Aug. 4.
