Excalibur M&W Soccer Put Up A Strong Fight But Leave Oshawa Without Points

VASO PARK (OSHAWA, ON) The Excalibur Men's and Women's soccer teams were both in the match, but came up short in teh end. First up were the women, who were facing the reigning OUA champion UOIT Ridgebacks. One could expect a team to be tentative against such a strong opponent, but teh Excalibur came out swinging. Positives were immediate as the Excalibur's #10, Adriana Risa (Bolton, ON), slotted home for the first shot of the match in the 3'.

The Excalibur would hold on to the lead through the first half, playing strong possession soccer. UOIT would start the second half with lots of energy, and within 7 minutes had the match tied. A back and forth affair would suggest that a draw would be a fair result, only for the Ridgebacks to steal all 3 points with a goal in the 89'.

The men were up next, and they too put in a strong performance, but left without a point earned. Goals have been hard to come by for the Excalibur Men early in this season, and they were again blanked, dropping the match 2-0.

The men's soccer team play their next match at home this Wednesday, September 6. Kick off against the visiting RMC Paladins is 6:00pm at Justin Chiu Stadium. The night should be exciting as it is the Excalibur's annual "O-Week Game", played in front of a packed house full of first-year students.
